Most of the film's cast reprise their roles. The plot of the video game is very similar to the film. A few areas in the game are not seen in the film, such as where SpongeBob and Patrick must escape Gooberland their dreams by following the Goofy Goober in the Patty Wagon.
Much of the locations in the game greatly exaggerate the film's screen time; for example, SpongeBob never had to tour 'Planktopolis' in the film, but he does so in the game.
The gameplay and some graphics such as SpongeBob and Patrick's models as well as text font is similar to that from the previous game, Battle for Bikini Bottom. There are 18 levels in the game that loosely follow the storyline of the film. Each level contains its main component and side tasks. Four levels involve a boss enemy that the player must defeat to progress to the next level.
Boss enemies include a giant frogfish, Dennis who is fought against twice , and King Neptune. Each main level and side task will give the player a Goofy Goober Token once completed, and the player needs these tokens to learn certain skills and proceed to the game.
Although the player only needs to complete a level's main component in order to unlock the next level, it is not possible to complete the game only doing the main levels though the player does not need to do all of the side tasks.
The machine actually works, but there is one problem, there are two switches on the machine, and one controls the loyalty of the robots, which means Plankton forgot to switch it to 'Obey', instead of 'Don't Obey. Then, we cut to SpongeBob and Patrick, who are playing with toy robots and horses. Patrick then displays his magical wishing shell. SpongeBob wishes that they had real robots to play with. Get 40, shiny objects. Go to the movie theater and press R to go inside.
Press A to see the art. Go to Goo Lagoon and find Bubble Buddy. Find The spatula then go around the corner. Jump on the cloth and touch the 'Thunder Tiki'. Run, jump off, land in the water, and repeat the process. Go to the third area in the level, which is called Sand Mountain. Destroy all Tikis that are around. For the Tikis next to the bus stop, use Bubble Bowl then aim at the Thunder Tiki in the middle and they will all explode.
Then, start the level and fall off immediately. The Tikis will be there again. Destroy them again as many times as desired. Go to Squidward's house and talk to him.
